Gísli Pálsson ( * 1949 Vestmannaeyjar, Iceland) is a professor of anthropology at the University of Iceland. He is the author, editor, or co-editor of several books, including ''Writing on Ice: The Ethnographic Notebooks of V. Stefansson'' (2001), ''The Textual Life of Savants: Ethnography, Iceland, and the Linguistic Turn'' (1995), and ''Nature and Society: Anthropological Perspectives''. He is currently (as of April 2014) working on a biography of the first person of colour to live in Iceland, Hans Jonatan.〔http://www.ruv.is/mannlif/svartur-i-sumarhusum〕 Gísli was awarded the Rosenstiel Award in Oceanographic Science at the Rosenstiel School of Marine and Atmospheric Science, University of Miami in 2000.
